I recently upgraded the rear door on my 2017 Lance 2185 with the RVLock V4.0 Keyless Entry System with integrated keypad and remote Fob to match the front door.  Some of you may have purchased this option on your TT or TC but for those of you that didn't - BUY IT!  It is really cool and having the ability to stroll around a campground without having to bring keys is great!  We have small children who think it's funny to watch mom and dad panic when they lock us out of the trailer and the RVLock V4.0 prevents that from happening.

The install was very easy and I found plenty of how-to videos on YouTube.com.  Total install time was about 10 minutes.  The major downside is the price - $239.99.  Ouch! But RVLock.com usually has holiday sales.  I got mine for $192.00 with free shipping and an extra Fob.  If you can spare $200, I recommend it. It's really cool, very convenient and any improvements to security is a plus.

I installed one on my TC.  I love the lock.  I do have a few concerns.  If the door isn't shut tight when you deploy the lock, the lock slide doesn't engage.  It makes all the beeps and sounds as if it were locked.  That leaves the TC unlocked and you have no idea that it isn't locked unless you check the door.  I find that I am now in the habit of checking the door to ensure the lock has engaged before I walk away.

I am contemplating purchasing the RV Lock Master Interior Remote.  I currently have my rear compartment door and rear entry door programmed to lock #2.  The front entrance door is programmed on #1.  This interior remote control would allow control of each door individually and let me lock all doors without getting out of bed.  Anyone have any experience with the Master Interior Remote?IMG_8996_1024x1024

Our 2285 came with just one.  I wanted them for both doors but wanted them also keyed alike.  My son also has a 2285, so I ordered two from RVlock and gave him my original as he didn't care if they were both keyed alike.  HAVABREW22 is right on them being discounted on the holidays.  RVLock does a Black Friday sale which is 40% off.  So if you want these and can wait till Black Friday, that would be the way to go.

I plan on having a spare key somewhere on the rig incase the batteries fail and pack spare batteries too!... I can't over think this.

Happy Camping!!

Agree completely. My batteries failed, so had to use the keys. I hid the keys in my truck for just an occasion! Also, my TC came with this. Keypad failed after about 3 months. Emailed the company and described the problem. They sent me a replacement circuit board. Took 30 min to disassemble and replace. Excellent customer service!

We have had this lock for awhile and love it.  The dealer installed it for us.  All of a sudden it is making weird noises before you hear the lock and unlock tones.  Do these licks have batteries?  If so what type and how do you install?

Hello Maryann & Bill

Yes these locks have 4-AA batteries. There is a small removable plate that has four small Phillips screws. The batteries may pop out when removing the plate since they are mounted in a vertical position.  Just got done replacing mine. Should only take a few minutes. Love my lock.  Usually what I do is change mine out during my dewinterize routine each year.

My TT came with the RVLock V4.0 Keyless Entry System with integrated keypad and remote Fob. While it seems to be the best out there, I feel it comes up short. You can have only one code per lock. So no giving a separate code to the kids or guests. Once you share a code, it’s out there…you might then need to change the code that you use. So YOU get to learn a new code.

I have a Schlage keypad lock on my house and can program multiple codes, which I find more useful.
That said, the RVLock has a 6 digit code, and the Schlage has only a 4 digit code. So both have shortcomings.

Love it (owner for about 4 years)

WARNING.  Always bring your keys.  We had a situation where the lock batteries died quickly. It would work, but had to repeatably replace the AA batteries.   RVLock replaced and acknowledged the issue.  We have pets - so it was a bit worrisome.  Again RVLock was great to work with - but if you are locked out w/o keys...hmmm...
